spring semester on the Columbia State campus. Other dates are available
at other locations. Registration deadlines and testing dates can
be obtained at the University Center or http://www.ets.org/praxis.

Columbia State tuition or Middle Tennessee State tuition?
A: Students taking Columbia State courses pay Columbia State tuition.

A: Full-time students should plan to start MTSU courses during the
fall semester of the junior year.
Q: How does
the 2 + 2 program compare with the ELED program offered on the MTSU
main
campus?
A: Although the degrees earned at either campus are comparable and
equal and both degrees lead to state licensing
in Elementary Education, the sequence of courses offered on the
Columbia State campus is highly specified.
Q: If requirements
change, will I be responsible for the new classes or just those
required at
the time I entered the program?
A: You will have a limited time to finish your degree under the
old requirements. After the deadline, you will
need to comply with the new requirements.
Q: How long
will it take to complete a B.S. degree?
A: It typically takes four years, depending on the student.
Q: What if
a student who is following the 2+2 program decides not to go to
MTSU?
A: Degree requirements vary from institution to institution. It
is the student's responsibility to have a transcript
evaluation completed from the institution of his/her choice.
Q: What if
a student already has a B.S. degree?
A: The student needs to contact the Licensure Specialist at a college
or university for a transcript evaluation.
Q: What courses
can I take to renew my teaching license?
A: Teachers interested in renewing their licenses should contact
the Tennessee Department of Education at
615-532-4885 or check the Department of Education homepage at www.state.tn.us/education/lic_ipta.htm
to determine if a lower or upper division course is required. If
a lower division course can satisfy requirements,
a Columbia State course can be taken (computer or psychology
courses usually are good options). If an upper division course is
required, a MTSU course can be taken. Prior
to registering for a Columbia State or MTSU course, the student
must be admitted to the institution.
Q: What is the AST

A: A general
transfer program for students that are enrolled in the 2+2 program; this
paradigm will make it easier to transfer to another TBR college or
university.
Q: If I am in the
2+2 will some of my course be the same as the AST course.
A: Yes, there
are many course that are the same in both programs but you will be required
to take Tennessee History to complete the second part of your history
requirement at MTSU but you can take HIST 2010 and HIST 2020 if you are not
planning to attend MTSU.

a private school will all my courses transfer?
