A: It typically takes four years, depending on the student.

A: The student needs to contact the Licensure Specialist at a college or university for a transcript evaluation.

Q: What courses can I take to renew my teaching license?
A: Teachers interested in renewing their licenses should contact the Tennessee Department of Education at 615-532-4885 or check the Department of Education homepage at www.state.tn.us/education/lic_ipta.htm to determine if a lower or upper division course is required. If a lower division course can satisfy requirements, a Columbia State course can be taken (computer or psychology courses usually are good options).
